Jazzy July!

Hi all :)

How are y'all this week?

Me? I'm good! Just waiting on the boys or specifically my boy to return from his 4 day road trip! I am so excited for him to get back! 1-because he will return early Wednesday morning which is July 4th and I LOVE holidays ;) and 2-because it will kick off the countdown to All-Star break which is when Mr. Todd will FINALLY see our beautiful home!

Since he has been gone it has given me time to get things in order. Pay bills do a little shopping (for him) and then plan what I am going to cook for the 4th! I like to try and celebrate all holidays that are during baseball season you know Easter, July 4th, Memorial Day as normal as possible so we still get those memories even though our grind is still in full force.

I have planned a menu of baked bar-b-q chicken, homemade mac and cheese, corn on the cob, sweet potato fries and fire cracker cookies. I got the baked bar-b-q chicken recipe from here. I am excited to try it! I will of course alter it some but overall it looks delish!

These are the firecracker cookies I am going to make! They are super easy to prepare and look absolutely yummy!

What are y'all's plans for the Fourth of July?

Anyways moving along our roommate was called up on Friday night after the game. The rest of the team headed out to Oklahoma City so he stayed behind until Saturday morning before he headed to St. Louis. He came home and we yelled with excitement about his call-up! Barret's story is a magical one. He has been playing professional baseball for 6 years and never ever been called up to the big leagues! He was drafted by the Angels and played with them for the last 5 years but this past offseason was drafted by the Cardinals in the Minor League Rule 5 Draft that happens every off season. He has done superb work while pitching out the bullpen and Jess and I could not be more happy for him. We have made friends for life with him and his wife and we hope we see them again this season just not here in Memphis :)

I got to watch Barret make his Major League Debut here in Memphis while Jess did the same but only in Oklahoma City. Here he is in his red and white!

I can't tell you how many times we have watched our friends and Jess' teammates make a debut! It is an unbelievable feeling because we know how amazing it is to be there and get that chance. I know Jess will be there again one day!

Now that things are slowing down for me I am finally getting the chance to read again! I love to read and there is this book that a lot of girls I know are raving about.

It's called Bloom, by Kelle Hampton. It's about a mother's journey with her daughter who has down syndrome. The trailer for it is amazing! You can watch it below.

From what I know of, the story is unbelievably good, so I can't wait to dig into it!

Aside from all that this is what has been up with us during the end of June/beginning of July! I hope all of y'all are all staying cool!

See y'all soon!

Love,
E
