Dinner in ChiTown

We met up with some of our friends who are from Chicago on the first day of our trip for dinner! I told them I wanted the best deep dish pizza in town so they decided on Gino's East or the Original Gino's Pizzeria. I love pizza regardless, so I knew it wasn't going to take much convincing for me to like deep dish pizza as well.

It was so nice to catch up and chat with Haley and Casey. I have missed Haley so much and seeing them was a perfect fix until we meet again!

After our dinner was over we walked back to the hotel so Jess could finish watching the HomeRun Derby. One of Jess' good friends was a participant so it was crucial for us to see the entire derby. Once it was over we headed over to Wrigleyville. Boy, oh boy, was I excited for this!

We had to stop for some pics on our walk to get a cab, Jess was thrilled ;)

Welcome to Wrigleyville!

We stopped in Goose Island and had a drink. I chose the Cubby Blue beer and Jess had a Jack and Coke. It was a nice ending to our first night in Chicago. I will say I wasn't impressed with Wrigleyville though. It just didn't "do it" for me. Maybe next time we go I will experience it with all it's glory of raging, drunk fans. Here's hoping!

I hope Monday treated you right! We are off to dinner! Jess had a noon game today so date night it is! Whoop whoop!

Chicago Day 1

Like I said before, I had never been to Chicago before. I had a list of places that I wanted to see, eat at and explore! Jess had no idea that this year's All Star Break was going to be a busy one ;)

We started our first day with brunch at Yolk. It is rated highly for their brunch next to the Bongo Room so we decided to try it out since it was so close to our hotel.

After we devoured our yummy selections we headed towards the John Hancock Building. Jess' agency is inside the building so we figured we would stop in and say hey to them and go up top to see the views!

Along our trek to get to the John Hancock we explored the Magnificent Mile. I was in retail heaven! Jess was in (lack of a better word) HELL! He was a good sport though and didn't complain too much.

These Reese's are the "World's Largest" Reese's Cups. Jess was amazed!

Cute litte Fire Station I had to get a picture of on our walk to dinner!

I will save dinner and our after dinner festivities for the next post. I don't want to overload y'all with pictures!

Things have been busy for us the past couple of weeks. I feel like I am always saying that but it is so true. We are rounding out into the last full month of the season and I can hardly believe it. I feel so blessed everyday to be able to live the life that I have. Baseball has blessed us with so many opportunities and I can't express in words just how thankful I am for that and for how hard my husband works for us.

I hope that y'alls weekend was a pleasant one! My grandma turned 79 today so this day is a special one for our family!

I will be back tomorrow with more of our Chicago trip! Sorry for the delay, I just don't like to post unless it's something meaningful and worth y'alls time to read.

Impromptu Girls Night!

Usually when I come home I spend the majority time with my family. This time I was able to spend the night with my friends! One of my besties parents have a lake house in Richland Chambers, so we went and spent the night out there.

We had a blast! My best friend, Kate who's parents lake house we went to has a sister that is a year older than us. She had her friends out there too so it was one big get together! I haven't seen her sister's friends since high school. Crazy how the years have flown by!

Jess is in Scranton Pennsylvania playing a 4 games series against the Yankees affiliate. He was with that team briefly in 2011 so he was kind of excited to go back. The field has been completely renovated so that is also something he was looking forward to seeing.

I'm off to get a list of things checked off today, along with taking care of my love bug Kinny. Let's see how this Monday goes, shall we?

I hope y'all's weekend was a fun one! School starting is just around the corner ;/ so enjoy every minute!

Happy Monday Y'all!

Happy All-Star Break!

Hello from Chicago!

We decided to do our All-Star Break in Chi-town this year! Jess has played here before against the White Sox but I didn't come for the series. We got here yesterday morning and have already managed to check everything we wanted to do off of our list!

I just wanted to pop in and say hey! We have been gone on the road to Columbus and Louisville for the past 4 days before we came to Chicago so that is why I have been MIA. Don't worry though! I have plenty to share once All-Star Break has concluded!

Talk to y'all later!

Mackinac Island Pt. 3

Our third day on the island we took it upon ourselves to explore the outer regions. After breakfast we took a carriage cab up to The Grand Hotel and toured that. I say that we toured it but since you have to pay $10 a person to tour it and no one was there to take our money or guide us through the hotel we just browsed around ourselves and took in the views that the hotel had since it overlooked most of the island.

Once we were done there we headed over to the patio to have a few drinks and appetizers before we took our own carriage around the island. We knew that since we had the carriage for 2 hours we were going to work up an appetite before getting back so we made sure to fuel up!

Dad and Emily "driving" the carriage.

The next way of transportation we hopped on were bikes! I had been waiting to get myself on a bike the entire time we were there! I was sooooo excited to get my pink beach cruiser!

Our last day on the island was more like a half of a day so we hit up the last few places we didn't see then headed out on the ferry back to Mackinaw City at 12:30pm.

My parents want to go back to Mackinac every summer now. My mom cried when we left, it was kind of like last year when she and my sister had to drag me out of the hotel in New York. I was sobbing like a maniac because I didn't want to leave. This time it was her we were begging to stop embarrassing us.

I would suggest Mackinac Island to anyone who wants to get away and enjoy the simple way of living for a couple of days. No cars, just bicycles, horses, carriages and the good ole fashion foot to get around on.

Jess and I are now gearing up for a 4 day road trip and the All-Star Break! We are going to Chicago for the break and I am SUPER-D-DUPER excited about it! I cannot wait!

I hope y'all are enjoying y'alls week this far! Happy hump day! ;)

Love,
E
