The many faces of Jess Todd....

Hi there!

Happy Memorial Day!

I am sure all of you are enjoying this fabulous day off with family and friends! Or at least I hope y'all are!

Our Memorial Day was spent at the ballpark! Holidays at the ballpark are the best in my opinion! You get the opportunity to recognize the holiday, eat yummy food without having to be the cook and enjoy a little firework show. Can't beat that in my book!

Jess pitched wonderfully last night going 3 innings, no runs and 4 strikeouts! He did amazing! Woo Woo! He came in to long relieve and did his job very well! Again....so proud! I am sure y'all are too!

Today I knew he would't pitch so I took the opportunity to make a picture collage with my new app! My lucky guinea pig was....you guessed it! Jess!

Here are the many faces of Jess while he pitches.

His beard is such an orangey-red color! Im anxious to see how that brightness plays out with our kids lol!

Since it was so hot today we had a suite to sit in which was really nice! We have had a lot of new people come to the team here recently so we had 2 new girls to get to know and the air conditioner helped us chat it up!

Saturday and Sunday night the ballpark had fireworks. Here are some pictures of that....

I hope all of you have had a wonderful 3 day weekend :)

Love,
E

Everybody has a bad day once in a while!

Good morning :) and Happy Friday!

Jess is in transit to Memphis and I (both of us) could not be happier! Luckily for me the week has flown by and Friday is here! I have been going non-stop since the last week of Spring Training so being here without the boys gave me a chance to get settled and it was nice.

This is definitely going to be an eventful summer! This kind of makes me happy but then a little sad because although I love being busy, I hate how fast the time flies when I am. Plus Jess has a new found love for the words "WE ARE OLD" so I am constantly being reminded of how "old" we are and that time is pushing forward, not slowing down at all!

Last night Jess threw and he was having an "off" day. He had 3 hits which resulted in 3 earned runs and 1 walk. He was pulled after getting only 1 out. He was pretty disappointed to say the least. He has such high expectations for himself and does not want to ever give up a run! I told him that is not baseball and that is not how things work. I also told him everyone has a bad day and he was allowed to have a bad day. He said he was mad and that he was just ready to come home. They are all tired so I knew he was just cranky and ready for some good rest. Hopefully his next outing will be better and then he will be happy!

Our Memorial Day weekend plans consist of baseball, fireworks and a little appliance shopping. Oh to be grown ups :)

I hope yall enjoy the Holiday weekend!

Love,
E

That's what we get for waking up in Vegas....

Hellooo fellow readers!

I am writing this post from the comfy couch of my Memphis home. I just got back from Vegas this afternoon and I am in "recovery" mode. Oh, don't worry it's not what you think! I didn't drink too much and am not recovering from a hangover. I am simply recovering from going 1,000 miles an hour while being there for four days! What I have come to conclude about Vegas is that your body makes an executive decision to forget all aspects of what time it is. When before in your regular schedule you would be yawning by 9:30pm, in Vegas the yawns never happen and you find yourself looking at the clock in disbelief of how "early" (as in 3am) it is! Oh the stories we will have to share with our kids about how we used to "rage" in our day :)

As many of you know Vegas has many reasons to go visit but this particular visit for us was because of baseball. The Toronto Blue Jays Triple A affiliate has their team there. In my opinion I would rather play on the surface of the sun because it has got to be somewhat cooler there than in Vegas. I was in absolute aww of how warm it was! Yeeks! The good thing is that even though it is outrageously hot, you don't sweat, because there is no humidity. This makes for fabulous hair the entire time you are there, and if you know me I appreciate that!

Jess arrived in Vegas a day before I did because the team decided to make their off day a travel day. Jess unfortunately was unlucky that day and continued to be after I arrived. Vegas did not treat him well this trip, but he does have tonight to gain back what he lost. I know he and I are both hoping he does!

Overall the gambling was a fail amongst the team. Only one guy really made some money but other than that everyone was in the same boat. I really do not know what the team was thinking by sending these boys there for 5 days! 5 days is too long for anybody let alone a team of 25 baseball players!

Other than the gambling the trip was a fun one! A lot of the wives/fiancees/girlfriends went so we all got to meet if we hadn't or spend more time with the ones we already knew. I really like trips like that! Ones where since we are all connected by this sport that has become our life gives us the chance to really feel like the family we are even if we may not like it sometimes. Some personalities don't mix but that is usual for situations regarding people and I am so glad I got to go on this trip!

One day we did a little shopping and I finally got a new bag! YAY! I went into Louis Vuitton and tried on the bag that I have been drooling over for quite sometime. This led to me only being disappointed because the bag just didn't "fit". It didn't compliment me at all. So what do I do? I ask to see the one I liked 2nd best, and what happens? It fits! It came with a hefty price tag too :) One this chick didn't really feel like paying. So.....I walk down to H&M (one of my favorite stores) and browse around. What do I find? I very cute, oversized summer purse that is just BEAUTIFUL! I leave Cesar's Palace with a $35.00 bag and a smile on my face that I could not wipe off! Jess of course was mad because he wanted me to buy the purse but I just told him I would rather buy $1500 dollars worth of stuff to put in our new house, and if you know my husband you know he shut his mouth real quick and didn't argue a bit.

We had dinner at a really good Italian place and just some other random places while we were there. Last night we actually Zip Line across the old strip and that was a lot of fun! Jess was a wreck but was team player since our roommate and his fiancee were doing it with us. It was awesome and well worth the 20 bucks!

Our roommate Broderick, his Fiancee Kara and me and Jess!

Ready to Goooo! :)

Broderick and Kara

I recommend doing the Zip Line to anyone who goes there! People are everywhere below you and it is such and awesome (30 second) experience!

Here are some other pictures from our trip!

The light show that goes on every hour on the hour!

Me at the light show.

Out on the old strip on Friday night!

Getting a quick workout in!

Shopping at Cesar's!

Jess pitched on Saturday night and did well! The line up had a lot of lefty's in it so we anticipated on him not throwing very much. He did really well and hit 93 five times during his 15 or so pitch inning. So proud of that boy!

Jess and I had the opportunity to catch up with some of our old teammates from Cleveland. Aaron and Jackie Laffey are now with Toronto and he is playing in Triple A. He started on Saturday night and he went a complete game with 86 pitches! He too did amazing that night! It was nice to see them because the last time we saw them they had just had their first baby. They now have 2 and the first one is a "big boy" now.

I hope y'all had a nice weekend! Im now going to listen to the rain and watch one of Jess' teammates make his Major League Debut with St. Louis against the Dodgers on TV.

Until next time.....

Love,
E

Let's Play Catch Up....

So as usual I have been crazy crazy busy! With school, my best friends wedding, my sister's prom, moving from Kilgore to Austin and Jess' road trip to Round Rock, it has been one hellacious couple of weeks! So today I am going to fill you all in on whats been up with the Todd family.

On April 27th I flew to Ennis for my best friend Erika's wedding. As you all know wedding's are crazy in itself and since the wedding was not until 7:30 on April 28th, I hit the ground running on the 27th in Dallas. I literally went from the airport to a quick lunch, to helping decorate, to picking up my dress, to getting ready for the rehearsal dinner and then onto the rehearsal dinner. We had a slumber party at one of my friends houses and we stayed up late, which was highly a bad decision considering we had a FULL day ahead of us. It was crazy and hectic but very exciting! I am so happy for Erika and she was a very beautiful bride!

The next day (which was a sunday) my mom took me and my cousin to Kilgore so we could pack up our house and move to Austin on Tuesday. Umm....let's just say that this girl was a little tired from the days before and was not looking forward to packing up the first house my husband and I called home. The good thing is God has blessed me with some great family members and my Jakey was there to help me! Jake and I are the same age just six months apart. We grew up together and had the same circle of hell-raising friends so the packing gave us a chance to catch up since we don't really get to see each other that often anymore. By Monday night we were absolutely spent! (spent is a term we use that is a state of being-like "we spent all the energy we had and we are done") Thank the lord that Jess' parents came down and helped us start packing the U-Haul because 1) we were tired and 2) we had to end up getting another U-Haul because we had wayyyy more (pardon my french) shit than I even imagined! As defeating as it was on us we had it all packed, moved and unloaded in Austin by Tuesday night. We got back to Ennis around 10pm and we all hit the hay! I will say that I was sour with my mother the entire time we were moving but after I laid my head on that pillow with assurance all of my stuff was moved and done I was so thankful for her. I guess it's true....Mom's really do know best :)

A couple of days later after studying and submitting papers I drove back to Austin to get Jess from the airport. We went to our new house and looked around. It felt good being in it together and I can't wait until the off season gets here so we can really spend some time in it together.

The next day I drove home for my sister's prom. We had a full day of primping and getting ready for her last prom ever! She looked beautiful and had a really great time! She went with a group of really nice kids and I was so happy she got to enjoy her last prom with them. I know she will never forget it!

As the sun rose on Sunday I got up and got ready to head back to Austin. I got back there just in time to see Jess throw and he did A-MAZ-ING! So proud of that sweet boy! He has worked so hard!

The next day I flew back to Memphis and again my speed was still at full force. Our roommates wife flew in and I had finals :/ not fun when you have someone to entertain! A lot of juggling happened this week because not only was she in town, Jess' BFF's came into town for a Bachelor party. They had a LOT of fun. I mean LOADS of fun and I am so glad they planned it around seeing Jess because he was so happy to see them. I enjoyed seeing them as well and wished they could have stayed longer. They all left yesterday and just missed Jess pitching by a couple of hours. He did well again and I know they were so sad they missed it. Maybe next time though!

Since yesterday was a early game we offered to babysit for one of Jess' teammates so he could take his wife out for Mother's Day. She was an absolute gem and now I think Jess is spoiled as to how kids really act. She could not have been more perfect! I was amazed....and kind of shocked! I figured there would be a lot of crying but she was cooler than a cucumber! Cra-zay!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mama's out there that read my blog! I hope y'all had a fan-tab-ulous day!

We are getting ready to head to Vegas on Thursday so wish us some luck! I know I will need it!

Happy Monday!

Love,
E
